What sets this retreat apart

An affordable and accessible retreat that introduces you to the main concepts of mindfulness meditation and how this can help you manage stress, anxiety and depression.

The course contains a unique mix of active learning, including presentations, group meditations, and activities such as mindful walking, eating, yoga and horse care.

Booking includes all meals and accommodation, although there are options for self-catering and arranging your own accommodation.

What you’ll Learn

Part 1

You'll learn what mindfulness is, the difference between formal and informal mindfulness, and how mindfulness helps with stress, anxiety and depression.

Part 2

You'll learn what the automatic pilot is, the difference between being and doing and how to develop a informal meditation practice.

Part 3

You'll learn different ways to be mindful through mindful walking, eating and movement (gentle yoga) and how to bring mindfulness into your daily life.

Part 4

You'll learn the seven attitudes of mindfulness and how to cultivate patience, non-judgment and compassion for yourself and others.

Part 5

You'll learn how to understand your thoughts and feelings and how to deal with critical thoughts. You'll practice the 3-minute breathing space.

Part 6

You'll learn the value of silence. The loving kindness and body-scan meditation and the power of mindful resilience.

I could not have picked a more perfect first retreat experience.

In the beautiful Ferry Meadows country park, with a mix of rivers and lakes and tucked away in our super-sized tents, the beginners mindfulness programme was a perfect introduction to how mindfulness can bring benefits to anyone's life. Much time around the fire, talking or listening or singing (even I gave in to it) or just being. Supportive leaders, kind retreatants, delicious food, under the sun, storms and stars, it was all wonderfully grounding, gentle and insightful. A very beginner friendly retreat for anyone unsure and outdoor living beginner friendly with an excellent shower block, camp kitchen and spacious tents. Take me back to morning movement looking across that gorgeous view along Gunwald Lake.

Booking Process

Step 1:

Choose your accommodation type and answer a few questions about diet, mobility, and which activities you prefer.

Step 2:

We'll send you the guide for the weekend and call you to discuss your booking and check if you have any questions or concerns. 

Step 3:

We'll send you an invoice and you'll have 48 hours to secure your booking. Split payment plans are possible for large bookings. Cancellation policy below.

Why This Retreat

Unique Camping Experience

Enjoy a night under canvas on the peaceful banks of Gunwade Lake.  We have exclusive access to  eight bell tents. Each one is on a wooden decking platform and has a sleeping space of 12 feet. They  are simply furnished with floor matting and LED lighting and bedding for the night.

Stimulating Environment

With stunning views over Gunwade Lake, and access to a private decked veranda overlooking the water, Lakeside Meeting Room is a peaceful and calming location. Our other room at the Dragonfly Hotel overlooks the 1.2 Km Peterborough Rowing Lake.

Learning is best done through a mix of listening and doing. As well as traditional teaching methods via presentation, we also include activities such as mindful walking, eating, yoga, swimming, and horse care.
