Mindfulness Training in Peterborough

Learn How to Slow Down, Relax, and Find Balance

Life can feel overwhelming. Constant demands, endless notifications, and the pressure to do more can leave you exhausted, anxious, and unable to switch off.

If you feel like you never get a moment’s peace, mindfulness training in Peterborough can help you slow down, breathe, and reconnect with yourself.

What Is Mindfulness?

Mindfulness is the practice of paying attention to the present moment with openness and acceptance.

It’s not about emptying your mind or “switching off” completely. Instead, it’s about learning to notice your thoughts and feelings without being carried away by them — so you can respond calmly, instead of reacting automatically.

Why People Choose Mindfulness

You may be:

  • Feeling stressed, anxious, or unable to relax
  • Struggling to sleep or switch your mind off at night
Searching for some “me time” in a busy life
  • Longing for more patience, focus, or joy in the little things
  • Wanting a proven way to manage stress and improve wellbeing

If this sounds familiar, mindfulness can give you tools to pause, reset, and live with more balance.

About Me

I’m Matthew McGinty (MNCS, Accredited), a counsellor and qualified mindfulness teacher based in Peterborough.

I know how it feels when stress and anxiety take over life. Mindfulness helped me find peace and balance, and now I share those techniques with others who want the same.

I trained at the UK College of Mindfulness Meditation and also hold qualifications in counselling and psychotherapy, including integrative and existential therapy.

What to Expect From Mindfulness Training

Mindfulness training with me is one-to-one, practical, and tailored to your needs. Sessions may include:

  • Guided mindfulness meditations
  • Breathing and grounding exercises
  • Practical tools you can use in everyday life
  • Space to reflect and explore how mindfulness can help you personally

You don’t need to have a “major problem” to benefit. Many people simply want to feel calmer, less stressed, and more connected.

FAQs About Mindfulness Training

What is mindfulness training like?

Sessions are relaxed and practical. You’ll learn techniques you can take into daily life.

How long will training take?

It depends on your goals. Some people benefit from a few sessions; others choose ongoing support.

Do I need to meditate?

Mindfulness is broader than meditation, but meditation is a useful way to train your awareness.

What if I don’t want to share personal details?

That’s fine. You only share what feels comfortable — the focus is on learning tools and techniques.

Can I do mindfulness if I find it hard to sit still?

Yes. Mindfulness isn’t about forcing yourself to sit quietly. There are many ways to practise — from mindful walking to simple breathing exercises — and we’ll find what works for you.

Sample Mindfulness Meditations

Mindfulness isn’t just something we talk about — it’s something you practise. Here are two short meditations you can try at home to get a feel for it.

The 3 Minute Meditation

A simple exercise to pause and reset:

  1. Focus gently on your breathing.
  2. Bring awareness to your body — notice sensations without judgment.
  3. Acknowledge your thoughts as they come and go, then return to the breath.

The Breathing Space

A calming practice guided by mindfulness pioneer Jon Kabat-Zinn:

  1. Notice your breath as an anchor in the present moment.
  2. Expand awareness to your body, then your surroundings.
  3. Return to the breath, allowing a sense of calm and space.

These meditations are short and easy, yet they carry the essence of mindfulness: noticing, accepting, and gently returning to the present.
