Book Your CBT Session
Depending on the nature of the issue you are aiming to overcome, your counsellor is likely to offer CBT alongside another form of therapy.
Understanding what CBT is and the ways you can help yourself may help you overcome your obstacles, without the need to talk to a trained therapist.
CBT is backed by a large number of studies proving its effectiveness, and positive differences are often made through a short number of sessions with a counsellor or therapist.
Why CBT?
Whilst there are a large number of therapies out there that can help people handle and overcome a variety of issues, CBT is based on science. Instead of looking to the distant past to discover why you may feel a certain, way CBT is a 'talking therapy' that helps you to manage the way you think and behave.
CBT: What Does it Mean?
Cognitive
How you think will be completely unique to you. Cognition relates to the various things our mind can do, including scheduling, planning, problem solving and more.
Behaviour
We all behave differently and respond differently to different stations. 'behaviour' refers to how we 'act' - from the noticeable actions such as how we work, to less obvious thing such as how we stand, or how we fiddle with our hands.
The mindset you adopt can dramatically shape the way you perceive a situation to be, and therefore shape your actions or reactions. It's true that no one can be happy and positive all the time, but Cognitive Behaviour Therapy is there to be used in conjunction with other forms of therapy to help you overcome stresses or achieve a certain goal.
CBT Cambridge
Both Mind and the NHS offer free, time-limited Cognitive behavioural therapy in Cambridge, although there is usually a wait time of several weeks or months.
