Helping People Resolve their Anger Problems

If you struggle to control your anger, I understand how difficult that can be.

You might feel helpless and frustrated. Your anger seems to come from nowhere - causing you to say nasty words you don't mean. Your angry outbursts might cause you to break things, punch walls, or kick the rubbish bin over.

As soon as you calm down, you feel guilty and regret your actions. You're sorry about your outburst.

Here Are Some Specific Challenges That I Can Help You With

As someone who is struggling with anger, you may be feeling:

  • That your anger is out of control and impossible to understand and get a grip of.
  • That a 'Leopard can't change its spots', and you'll be stuck with your anger forever.
  • That it's too late, and you've already damaged your key relationships beyond your control.

As Your Counsellor, I Can Help You Resolve these Problems

About Me.

I'm Matthew Mcginty (MNCS, Accredited), a Counsellor uniquely qualified to help you overcome your anger difficulties. I've had anger problems myself and know how impossible they seem to overcome.

I often hurt those I loved. I always thought my anger was a fixed part of me. Only later, I realised it's a habit that anyone can change.

I understand what you may be going through and how confusing it can feel; I offer a place where you can talk freely. Together we'll actively work on anger management techniques that will work for you.

I've benefited immensely from the tools and techniques that I now teach, and I'm passionate about aiding anyone to overcome anger issues. I want to help you understand every part of the anger emotion and how to relax and stay calm in any situation.

The counselling sessions I started with Matt, nearly one year ago, helped me to overcome the anxiety I've developed growing up in a dysfunctional family and the depression that suddenly appeared when I returned to work after my maternity leave during the pandemic. During our sessions, I always feel safe and free to share anything I am going through knowing that I won't be judged. I feel really listened and Matt has great patience and shows genuine empathy.

What does Anger Management Counselling involve?

I will work with you to identify the triggers for your anger, the sources of your irritation, and what thought patterns maintain your rage.

We'll look at what anger is, the effects it has on your body and life, and how to use tools and techniques to manage and even rid yourself of anger.

Do you have a Anger Management Course?

Yes, I do it's called Anger Management that Works (see here), if you attend counselling sessions I usually allow you to attend for free. However, not everyone wants to attend a course, we'll discuss what's right for you in the first session.

Can you provide a letter of attendance for court / social services?

Yes, I can provide a signed letter of attendance on letter headed paper that can be used in court. It has all my details and qualifications on it. The letter will confirm your attendance in therapy for anger management, what we've discussed together, and details of what progress we've made.

Is Anger Management Counselling effective?

I have been working with anger for several years now. I have helped many clients overcome their anger, and I am confident I can help you.

Anger is one of the most studied and researched issues that troubles people and there are simple effective methods that will help you get your anger under control.

How often should we meet?

It varies. We'll discuss in the first session what feels right for your situation. Some people meet weekly, but most chose fortnightly, some even less. It depends on how much support you require and how much self-study you want to do. We'll discuss the right mix in the first session.
